About this spot

A roadside station in Nishiyamacho, Kashiwazaki City (柏崎市西山町), combining a spacious lawned park with an exhibition hall. Benches and arbours are dotted through the grounds, so adults can rest at leisure while children play. There is also a mini museum with displays on local history, making it perfect for a stop during the cool hours before the sea. The produce corner stocks local vegetables and sweets, handy for shopping at the start of the trip.

Tips

About 10 minutes by car from Ishiji Beach (石地海水浴場). The car park is large and easy to use even with the car fully loaded. In summer, walking the grounds during the cool of the morning is recommended. Toilets are provided, so use them before setting off.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. Just after opening, around 10:00, is quiet and lets you look around at leisure
