Ishiji Beach (石地海水浴場) in Kashiwazaki City (柏崎市) is open in 2026 from Wednesday 1 July to Sunday 16 August. Hours are 8:00 to 17:00, and lifeguards are on duty from Saturday 11 July to Sunday 16 August. The gently shelving sands with their calm waves let families with small children play unhurriedly at the water's edge, and with six beach houses in a row you will have no trouble finding somewhere to eat or rest. There are two changing rooms and two paid hot showers, so changing and rinsing off the salt are easy. Swimming is free, so enjoy the summer Sea of Japan (日本海) to the full until evening.

Tips

Parking is 1,000 yen for cars and 2,000 yen for buses per day. The hot showers are paid, so having change ready is reassuring. Summer sand gets hot, so beach sandals are a must. Closing is at 17:00, so allow time to change and aim to wrap up around 16:45.
