About this spot

A beach in the Teradomari (寺泊) area of Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, open in 2026 from Saturday, July 11 to Sunday, August 16. Swimming is free, changing rooms are fully equipped, and paid hot showers are available, so changing clothes and rinsing off salt are never a problem. Two beach houses stand on the sand and can serve as a base for meals and rest. Restrooms are also provided, so families with small children can feel at ease. On this open sandy shore facing the Sea of Japan, you can enjoy summer to the fullest until evening, from splashing at the water's edge to playing in the sand. Note that barbecues are not permitted.

Tips

Swimming is free, but the hot showers and the beach houses charge a fee, so bring small change. Summer sand gets hot, so beach sandals are essential. Barbecues are not allowed, so enjoy food at the beach houses or bring your own packed lunch.

Best time to visit

From just after 1 p.m. the sunlight softens a little, making it a time slot when you can swim plenty until evening
