Water play on a gently shelving artificial beach right up to closing

About this spot

Watarase Water Park, Watarase Beach (わたらせビーチ), in Ashikaga City is an outdoor leisure pool whose pride is a gently shelving beach no deeper than 80 cm. In 2026 it operates on July 4 and 5, July 11 and 12, and then from July 18 to August 31, with hours from 10:00 to 12:30 (closed every Thursday, but open on August 13 and 27). The shallows, like a real water's edge, are easy for small children to walk in, and even within limited hours the whole family can splash each other and float on swim rings for plenty of summery water play. The adjoining Eco Aal Green Plaza (エコアールグリーンプラザ) has changing rooms, so you can come light without worrying about carrying a change of clothes. Admission is affordable at 220 yen for adults, 80 yen for junior high school students and younger, and free for preschoolers, making it a local summer staple you can visit on a whim.

Use the changing rooms at the adjoining Eco Aal Green Plaza (エコアールグリーンプラザ), and look after your valuables yourself. Thursdays are the regular closing day (except August 13 and 27), so checking the operating days before you go is reassuring.

Best time to visit

Entering at 10:30 gives you about two full hours of water play until closing at 12:30
