Banna-ji Temple (鑁阿寺), right next to the Ashikaga School (足利学校), is a temple that retains the character of a samurai residence, surrounded on all four sides by a moat and earthen ramparts. Along with the main hall, a national treasure, there are many highlights such as the temple gate and the bell tower, and a large ginkgo tree rises in the precincts, offering green shade for a breather even in summer. Walking it as a set with the Ashikaga School (足利学校) gives you the full feel of a historical stroll while still in the middle of town. The precincts are spacious, making the distance just right as a bit of light exercise before getting into the pool.

足利市の渡良瀬ウオーターパーク「わたらせビーチ」は、水深80cmまでの遠浅ビーチが自慢の屋外レジャープールです。2026年は7月4日・5日、7月11日・12日、そして7月18日から8月31日までの営業で、営業時間は10:00から12:30まで(毎週木曜休園、8月13日・27日は営業)。波打ち際のような浅瀬は小さな子でも歩きやすく、家族みんなで水をかけ合ったり浮き輪で浮かんだりと、限られた時間の中でも夏らしい水遊びをたっぷり楽しめます。隣接するエコアールグリーンプラザには更衣室があるので、着替えの荷物を気にせず身軽に来られるのもうれしいところです。入場料は大人220円、中学生以下80円、未就学児は無料と手頃で、気軽に立ち寄れる地元の夏の定番スポットです。

Tips

営業は10:00から12:30までの午前枠なので、10:30ごろの入場でも余裕を持って遊べます。更衣室は隣接のエコアールグリーンプラザを利用し、貴重品の管理は各自で。木曜は定休日(8月13日・27日を除く)なので、来園前に営業日を確認しておくと安心です。

Tips

It is only a few minutes on foot from the Ashikaga School (足利学校), so visiting straight afterwards is recommended. The precincts are free and open for worship. In summer, choosing shaded paths and walking slowly keeps you cool.
