A historic site connected with the Edo period Yomeigaku scholar Nakae Toju (中江藤樹)
About this spot
The site where Nakae Toju (中江藤樹), the Edo period Yomeigaku scholar known as the Sage of Omi (近江聖人), opened his private academy, designated a national historic site. Here Toju laid the foundations of Yomeigaku in Japan and trained many disciples. It stands amid the calm streets of Adogawa (安曇川) in the southern part of Takashima City, the old village of Yomeigaku, and is a historic site where you can spend quiet time. Nearby there is also the Toju Memorial Museum (藤樹記念館), which introduces the life of Nakae Toju (中江藤樹), so you can visit both if you are interested.

高島市に広がる琵琶湖畔のビーチで、2026年は7月11日(土)から8月30日(日)まで、朝8時から夕方17時まで開設されます。海のない滋賀県で家族に親しまれてきた湖水浴場で、澄んだ琵琶湖の水と穏やかな波が特徴。温水シャワーや共同炊事場、更衣室、売店を備え、着替えや食事の準備にも困りません。入場料は小学生以上500円、駐車場は1台1,000円です。すぐそばには白鬚神社の湖上大鳥居も望め、湖国ならではの景色の中で夕方まで水遊びと砂浜遊びを満喫できます。
Tips
道の駅 藤樹の里あどがわから車で15分ほど。営業は17時までなので、着替えの時間を見込んで16時45分ごろには切り上げるのがおすすめです。日陰が少ない場所もあるので、テントやパラソルがあると快適に過ごせます。売店の営業時間は現地の掲示で確認を。
Tips
It is in the Adogawa (あどがわ) district, about 15 minutes south by car from SHIRAHIGE BEACH (白ひげビーチ). Viewing the historic site itself is free. There is little shade in summer, so do not forget a hat and to stay hydrated.
Best time to visit
About 35 minutes. A visit during the cool morning hours is recommended
