Extending about 360 meters from just outside the east exit of Kamakura Station toward Tsurugaoka Hachimangu (鶴岡八幡宮), this is the classic Kamakura tourism street. In addition to eat-as-you-walk gourmet foods like rice crackers, dumplings, and soft serve ice cream, stores in summer display floatation rings and beach sandals, making it convenient for stocking up before swimming. The early morning hours have relatively fewer visitors, making it easier to walk with children. Satisfy your appetite while starting your Kamakura day heading toward the sea.

由比ヶ浜に隣接する材木座海水浴場は、2026年は7月1日(水)から8月31日(月)まで、9時から17時まで開設されます。遊泳は無料で、公共のシャワーやトイレも無料で利用できるのがうれしいところ。海の家では更衣室を有料で利用できます。比較的穏やかな波の砂浜は、波打ち際での水遊びから砂のお城づくりまで、家族でのんびり海を楽しむのにぴったりです。夕方まで思いきり夏の海を満喫しましょう。

Tips

鎌倉駅または和田塚駅から徒歩・バスでアクセス可能。遊泳は無料ですが、海の家の休憩や更衣室利用は有料です。夏の砂浜は熱いのでビーチサンダルは必携。遊泳時間は17時までなので、着替えの時間を見込んで15分前には切り上げるのがおすすめです。

Tips

1 minute walk from the east exit of Kamakura Station. Afternoons in summer get crowded, so shopping and eating should be done in the morning. Storing bulky souvenirs in station coin lockers lets you travel light to the beach.
