A coastal street continuing from near Wakamatsu Wataba, with Meiji and Taisho period Western-style buildings remaining that tell of the port town's coal export prosperity. This leisurely walking course lets you enjoy red brick merchant ship company buildings and other historic structures, with Wakato Bridge—connecting Wakamatsu and Tobata—visible at the street's end. In the morning there are few pedestrians, allowing families with children to walk comfortably while taking photos. It's an ideal warm-up distance before the beach.

北九州市若松区にある脇田海水浴場は、2026年は7月12日(日)から8月31日(月)まで開設され、営業時間は8時から17時30分までです。遊泳は無料で、シーズン中はトイレとシャワーも無料で利用できるので、小さな子ども連れでも気兼ねなく過ごせます。駐車場は周辺4か所に整備されており、車でのアクセスも便利です。花火やバーベキューは禁止されているため、家族で波打ち際の水遊びや砂遊びに集中できる、落ち着いた雰囲気のビーチです。若松南海岸通りや高塔山公園めぐりのあとの締めくくりに、夕方までたっぷり海を楽しみましょう。

Tips

駐車場は4か所ありますが夏の週末は混み合うので、早めの到着がおすすめです。シャワーは遊泳期間中は無料ですが、混雑時は順番待ちになることもあります。花火やバーベキューはできないので、あらかじめ別の予定を用意しておきましょう。営業終了は17時30分なので、着替えの時間を見込んで17時15分ごろには切り上げるのが安心です。

Tips

Parking is available near Wakamatsu Wataba and at the base of Wakato Bridge. Some buildings have visitable facilities, so stop by if you have time. Summer sun is intense, so bring a hat and drinks for peace of mind.
