About this spot

Katsuma Beach on Shika Island in Fukuoka City's Higashi Ward is a calm sandy beach facing Hakata Bay, opening from July 2 (Thursday) to August 31 (Monday), 2026. Swimming is free. During summer, showers, changing rooms, and shops are available, so you can visit with minimal luggage. About 300 parking spaces are available, and with public toilets, boardwalk, and grass plaza, families with small children can comfortably spend the entire day. Enjoy water play and sand games at the water's edge until evening, making the most of summer.

Tips

Outside summer, showers and shops are closed, so visiting during the operating season is recommended. Beach sand gets hot in summer, so bring flip-flops. The parking lot holds about 300 vehicles and is spacious, but arriving early is recommended for weekends around Obon. The grass plaza can also be used for rest or napping.

Best time to visit

Afternoon from 2 PM onwards when the sun is slightly less intense is a good time to enjoy plenty of swimming until evening.
