Kaiseiyama Shrine (開成山大神宮)

Flow of the course

About this spot

A shrine founded in the Meiji period enshrining a branch spirit of Ise Shrine, affectionately known as the "Tohoku's Ise Shrine." It was established as a spiritual anchor for people devoted to Asaka Reclamation, opening up wastelands, and has since watched over Koriyama's development. The shrine buildings enshrining Amaterasu Ōmikami and other deities stand majestically across from Kaiseiyama Park, and have been chosen by local families for milestone events such as Shichigosan and baby shrine visits. It's perfect for praying for family health and children's growth, and the convenience of crossing the street from the park makes it ideal for families with children. The avenue of cherry blossoms is beautiful, and the shrine grounds change their character with each season.

Tips

Located directly across from Kaiseiyama Park, just a short walk away. Visitors are free to pay their respects at any time. During cherry blossom season and special events, surrounding roads and parking can get congested, so walking while combining with the park is smoother. Hold children's hands securely when crossing the street.

Best time to visit

Approximately 30–40 minutes. The late afternoon when sunlight softens is easier to walk and allows for more peaceful prayer.
