Located just a short walk from Tanable Shrine, this facility permanently displays the spectacular floats used in the traditional summer festival "Tanable Matsuri" held every August. Seeing these large, ornate floats with colorful carvings and lanterns up close outside festival season is a rare opportunity to experience Shimokita's traditional culture. The air-conditioned indoor space is perfect for cooling off on hot summer days, a welcome amenity for families. Children will be amazed by the size and grandeur of the floats—an informal educational experience before heading to the beach.

Venue: むつ市・愛宕山海水浴場

むつ市にある愛宕山海水浴場は、2026年は7月18日(土)から8月16日(日)まで開設され、遊泳時間は10時から15時まで(12時から13時は休憩)です。むつ湾に面した波の穏やかな海水浴場で、遊泳は無料。駐車場は50台分用意されているほか、トイレと冷水シャワーも備わっており、着替えや汗を流すのに困りません。大きな混雑になりにくく、家族でゆったりと海水浴を楽しめるのが魅力です。午前中に下北の歴史と文化に触れたあと、午後はこの海でのんびり波遊びや砂遊びを満喫して1日を締めくくりましょう。

Tips

駐車場は50台分あるので車でのアクセスが便利です。冷水シャワーはありますが温水ではないため、真夏でも湯冷めに注意。12時から13時は休憩時間にあたるため、午後にゆったり訪れる今回のコースがちょうど良いタイミングです。遊泳は15時までなので、着替えの時間を見込んで14時45分ごろには切り上げるのがおすすめです。
