A venerable temple where the Treaty of Kanagawa-Shimoda was concluded in 1854, with a treasure museum on the grounds displaying artifacts from the time of Japan's opening to foreign trade. Tips

About 10 minutes walk from Shimoda Station. While the temple grounds are quiet and easy to visit, there is an admission fee for the treasure museum. After visiting, you can head back toward Shimoda Station along Perry Road while taking lunch, making the afternoon schedule smooth.

Takes about 45 minutes. Morning hours have fewer tourists, allowing for leisurely sightseeing.
