JR Ibusuki Station, the gateway to the Ibusuki hot spring resort, is a station with an impressive South Pacific resort-like appearance. Inside and outside the station building are shops handling Ibusuki specialty products and souvenirs, convenient for purchasing towels for sand steam baths and replenishing beach goods. There's also a tourist information center in front of the station, perfect for confirming your plans for the day. It's about a 10-minute drive to Ibusuki Harbor Coastal Beach, making it a convenient starting point with no strain.

指宿市街から近い指宿港のそばに広がる海水浴場で、2026年は7月18日(土)から8月31日(月)まで、10時から18時まで開設されます。更衣室とシャワー室は仮設ながら無料で利用でき、約190台分の駐車場も整っているので、車で訪れる家族連れにも利用しやすいのが魅力です。遊泳は無料。指宿港の穏やかな海は波打ち際での水遊びから砂遊びまで、小さな子どもとも安心して楽しめます。午前の砂むし温泉で温まった体を、午後は海でしっかり冷やしながら、指宿の夏を締めくくりましょう。
Tips
遊泳時間は18時までなので、着替えの時間も見込んで17時45分ごろには切り上げるのがおすすめです。更衣室・シャワーは仮設のため数に限りがあり、混雑時は順番待ちになることも。夏の砂浜は熱いのでビーチサンダルを忘れずに。
Tips
There are coin lockers in front of the station, so it's recommended to deposit bulky luggage and travel light. It's reassuring to check the latest operating status of sand steam baths at the tourist information center.
Best time to visit
About 45 minutes. Shopping is comfortable early in the morning right after opening.
