About this spot

This observatory sits atop Mt. Uomidake (魚見岳), which rises about 224 meters right next to Ibusuki Port, and is an easily accessible viewpoint you can drive almost all the way up to. From the observatory, you can take in a panoramic view of the blue waters of Kinko Bay (錦江湾), the town of Ibusuki, and the beautiful form of Mount Kaimon (開聞岳), also known as Satsuma Fuji (薩摩富士), and even look down at Ibusuki Port Coast Beach where you'll be swimming later. It's a great spot for photos overlooking the sea, and being easy to reach by car is a welcome point for families.

Tips

About a 5-minute drive from Ibusuki Port Coast Beach. There are fences around the observatory, so it's relatively safe even for small children. The sunlight is strong, so don't forget a hat and something to drink.
