Held on Monday, July 20, 2026, this fireworks display is launched from the Fuefuki River riverbed in front of Fuefuki City Hall. It's a summer tradition unique to this land where the ukai legend lives on, with its charm lying in the evocative sight of fireworks reflected on the river's surface overlapping with the lights of the hot-spring towns lining both banks. It lasts only 10 minutes, from 8:50 to 9:00 PM, but that makes for a tightly concentrated display coloring the night sky. Looking up at the fireworks in the calm, gentle atmosphere so characteristic of a hot-spring town's summer festival makes for a special travel memory. The event is also held at the same location on Wednesday, July 22 (with the 21st off), so being able to choose your date depending on weather or crowds is another feature of this festival.

Tips

The riverbed gets very crowded on the day, so it's recommended to stake out a spot starting around 5 PM. In case of severe weather, the event may be cancelled, so check Fuefuki City's official announcement on the day for whether it will go ahead. Afterward, the roads to the station and parking lots get congested, so it's recommended to enjoy the afterglow a little before heading home.
