A national historic site featuring the ruins of the palace where the Saigū (imperial priestess) who served the Ise Grand Shrine lived. Excavation surveys have revealed the positions of buildings, which are now marked on the ground, allowing you to experience the grand scale of the Heian palace by walking through it. The spacious grassy historic park offers excellent views and is perfect for a family stroll. Informational signs throughout the park make it enjoyable even if you don't know the history. 2026年7月25日(土)開催、明和町の夏を彩る大淀祇園祭と花火大会のクライマックスです。19時30分から21時30分ごろまで、約6,000発の花火が伊勢湾に面した夜空を次々と彩ります。海に近い会場ならではの開放的な視界で、大輪の花火を遮るものなくゆったり楽しめるのが魅力です。祇園祭にあわせた花火大会らしく、地域に根ざした温かい雰囲気の中でフィナーレを迎えます。斎宮の歴史散歩から始まった1日の締めくくりにふさわしい、夏の夜空の贈り物です。

Tips

荒天時は中止・順延の可能性があるため、当日の開催可否は明和町の公式発表で確認を。終了後は周辺道路・駐車場が混雑するため、少し余韻を楽しんでから帰路につくのがおすすめです。足元が暗いのでスマホのライトなどがあると安心です。

Tips

Just a short walk from Kintetsu Yamada Line's Saigū Station. Admission is free. In summer, there's little shade, so a hat or parasol is recommended. It's best to visit together with the adjacent Saigū History Museum.
