A national historic site spreading over the remains of the palace where the Saio, who served the Ise Grand Shrine, once lived. Excavation surveys revealed the positions of the building's pillars, which are now marked on the ground, letting you walk through and feel the grand scale of the Heian-period palace firsthand. The spacious, grassy historic park offers good views and is perfect for a leisurely family stroll. Information boards are set up throughout the grounds, so you can enjoy it even without prior knowledge of the history. Start the day of the fireworks display gently, at a quiet historic site.
Tips
Right by foot from Saiku Station on the Kintetsu Yamada Line. Admission is free. There is little shade in summer, so a hat or parasol is reassuring. It is recommended to visit together with the neighboring Saiku History Museum.

About 1 hour. From morning to early afternoon is relatively cool and comfortable for walking
