A Mie Prefectural museum adjoining Saiku Ruins, where you can learn about the Saio's life through excavated artifacts and reconstructed models. The exhibits, which clearly introduce Heian-period court culture and annual events, are enjoyable for adults and children alike. Grasping the overall picture of the palace of the time through miniature models, then recalling the ruins afterward, makes the history feel much closer. The museum is air-conditioned, making it a handy rest stop during the hot summer daytime.
Tips
About a 5-minute walk from Saiku Ruins. Admission is around 340 yen for adults (subject to change depending on special exhibitions). Some exhibits inside restrict photography, so check the posted signs.

About 1 hour. Early afternoon is recommended if you want to view the exhibits at leisure
