Learn about the Heian-period Saigū's life through excavated artifacts and reconstructed models

About this spot

A prefectural museum adjacent to the Saigū Ruins where you can learn about the Saigū's life through excavated artifacts and reconstructed models. Exhibits that introduce Heian court culture and annual events in an easy-to-understand way appeal to both adults and children. By viewing miniature models of the entire palace layout before visiting the ruins, history becomes much more tangible. The air-conditioned interior is also a valuable cooling-off spot during hot summer days.
