About this spot

The central area of Yoshinogari Historical Park, where one of the country's largest Yayoi-period moated settlement ruins has been reconstructed. Watchtowers, pit dwellings, and raised-floor storehouses have been faithfully rebuilt, letting you experience firsthand how the ruling class of the local chiefdom once lived. The Northern Inner Enclosure also features a towering main ceremonial hall where rituals were held, offering a close look at both the daily life of Yayoi-period people and the symbols of their power. Walking through the vast park, you can feel as if you have stepped back in time into the world of the Yayoi period you once saw in textbooks.

Tips

About a 5-minute drive from the Higashi-Sefuri Interchange on the Nagasaki Expressway. Admission is around 460 yen for adults. The grounds are large, so wear comfortable walking shoes and bring something to drink.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 30 minutes. From morning to early afternoon tends to be relatively cool and easy for touring
