A museum themed around drift ice, located at the summit of Mt. Tento (天都山), which overlooks the city of Abashiri. In the sub-zero experience room, you can touch real drift ice, and the exhibit of clione, known as the angel of the drift ice, is also popular. The observation floor offers a sweeping view of the Sea of Okhotsk, the city of Abashiri, and the surrounding lakes, making it a rare spot where you can sense the mystery of the winter sea even in summer.
Tips
About a 15-minute drive from Abashiri Station (網走駅). The experience room is chilly, so having something to wear over your clothes will be comfortable even in summer. The view from the observation floor extends further on clear days.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 15 minutes. You can enjoy the view in the clear afternoon air
