About this spot

This is a pocket of the port town spreading out right by Kinoe Port, which once thrived as a port of call for kitamae-bune and sengoku-bune cargo ships. Narrow lanes lined with old wooden houses still remain today, carrying a calm atmosphere that evokes the prosperity of that era. Since this townscape sits right in front of the port where tonight's fireworks will be launched, walking through it during the day to get a feel for the atmosphere will make the evening even more enjoyable. If you're not in a hurry, take your time and walk all the way to the far end of the lanes.

Tips

A short walk from the Kinoe Port ferry terminal. Since there are only a limited number of restaurants, it's a good idea to allow plenty of time to find a place to eat on the island. The sunlight is strong in summer, so choose shaded paths as you walk.
