This facility restores and opens to the public the residence of the Mochizuki family, who built their fortune in the shipping trade that supported the prosperity of Osaki Kamijima. As a surviving merchant house, it is one of the finest of its kind in the Seto Inland Sea region, and it displays materials that convey the lifestyle of the time and the island's history. You can take your time exploring the calm Japanese-style space, making it a great opportunity to learn about the island's history together with children. It's recommended as a stop before heading to the fireworks venue in the Kinoe Port / Tenma Port area.

Tips

Open 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (last entry 4:30 PM); closed Mondays (or the following day if Monday is a holiday), the last day of the month, and the New Year holidays. Admission is 200 yen for adults and 100 yen for children.
