About this spot

This fishing port in the southwest of Miyakejima was built by excavating a reef. It serves as a base for the island's fishing boats and also as a refuge port for vessels operating in the surrounding waters. Equipped with a quay where large scheduled ferries can dock, it forms one half of the island's 'one island, two ports' system alongside Miike Port. It is also tonight's fireworks venue, and people gradually begin to gather in the evening for viewing. Enjoy the bento or light snacks you brought while watching the sun set into the sea and waiting for the sky to darken.

Tips

Restaurants on the island are limited, so it is reassuring to prepare dinner in advance. Since staking out spots begins in the evening, early action is recommended. The sea breeze can make you cold, so bring a light jacket.
