About this spot

The school building of the former Ako Elementary School, which was buried by lava from the 1983 eruption, is preserved in its original state. A valuable learning spot that conveys the magnitude of the eruption's damage and the steps the island's people have taken to recover. It is also close to Sabigatahama Port, the venue, making it easy to visit before heading there for evening viewing spots. It becomes a time for families to quietly feel the history of an island that has faced natural disaster.

三宅島の夏を彩る、マリンスコーレ21フェスティバルの締めくくりとなる花火大会です。錆ヶ浜港の夜空に花火が打ち上がり、静かな島の夜を華やかに彩ります。打ち上げ数の公表はありませんが、火山島ならではの自然と歴史を1日かけて巡ったあとに見上げる花火は、忘れられない特別なひとときになるはずです。周囲に高い建物が少ない島ならではの、遮るもののない花火の眺めも魅力です。

Tips

荒天時は中止となる場合があるため、当日の開催可否は三宅村の公式発表で確認しましょう。島内は街灯が少ないため、懐中電灯を持参すると安心です。船やヘリコミューターの時刻を事前に確認しておきましょう。
