This park is developed on the former site of Kitanosho Castle, built by the warlord Shibata Katsuie, and adjoins Shibata Shrine, which enshrines Katsuie and Oichi no Kata. Part of the castle's excavated stone walls are displayed within the park, letting you feel close to Fukui's Sengoku-era history. Being a compact park, it's also appealing as a spot you can casually stop by during a walk around town.
Tips
It's within walking distance of Yokokan Garden. Admission is free. There are many benches in the park, making it good for a short rest during the hot hours too.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour. There's shade from trees, making it a relatively comfortable spot even on summer afternoons.
