The head shrine of approximately 600 Kashima shrines nationwide, this historic shrine has long been revered as the deity of martial arts. Passing through the red-lacquered Roumon Gate, you'll find the back approach lined with cryptomeria trees centuries old. Beyond lies Mitarashi Pond, fed by clear spring water. The expansive grounds are verdant and perfect for families to walk and experience both history and nature.

About 10 minutes by car from Hashigata. The spacious grounds are best explored in comfortable walking shoes. The cryptomeria avenue of the back approach remains cool even in summer, offering shaded rest spots.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Early afternoon is relatively peaceful for worship.
