About this spot

The area around the coastal breakwater, a prime viewing spot for the Atagawa Offshore Fireworks Festival (熱川海上花火大会), starts filling with people securing their spots as evening approaches. Spread out a takeout dinner and wait for the fireworks to begin while watching the Sagami Sea (相模灘) view as the sun sets. As the lights of the hot spring town gradually begin to turn on, anticipation builds for the fireworks about to start. Spending this cool evening moment in the sea breeze is also part of the enjoyment unique to this course.

Tips

Just a short walk from Atagawa Beach (熱川海岸). The area around the breakwater gets very crowded from evening onward on the day of the fireworks festival. Pick up food and drinks early. Be sure to take your trash home with you.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 45 minutes. The changing colors of the sky around sunset are a highlight
