About this spot

This highland resort spreads across the western foot of Mount Daisen, known as a spectacular viewpoint of Hoki-Fuji, since Mount Daisen viewed from the west is as beautiful as Mount Fuji. The star attraction is the Sky Lift, which climbs up the mountainside. Stand at the observation deck at the end of this slow ride through the sky, and a grand panorama spreads out below: the beautiful arc of the Yumigahama Peninsula, the Sea of Japan, and, in the distance, even the Shimane Peninsula. The area around the observation deck is a romantic spot also chosen as a Sacred Place for Lovers, and in the evening there are times when the sea glows golden. This is a place to close out the day carrying the grandeur of Mount Daisen and the sparkle of the Sea of Japan in your heart.

Tips

The lift may be suspended in strong winds and similar conditions, so it's reassuring to check the day's operating status before heading out. It gets cold and windy at higher elevation, so bring something to layer on. It's recommended to come down the mountain before it gets dark, in preparation for the drive back.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 50 minutes. In the evening, the Sea of Japan and Yumigahama catch the western sun and shine, making it the most beautiful view of the day
