Next stop: Trace a local legend at a sea cave, one of Akune's Seven Wonders, before your swimAbout this spot
Kuronoseto Ohashi Bridge connects Akune City and Nagashima Island, spanning the Kuronoseto Strait, known as one of Japan's three great tidal straits. Beneath the bridge, you can watch the fast current swirl and feel the power of the sea up close. A park has been built at the foot of the bridge, with just the right amount of space to park and enjoy the view. It's also close to Wakimoto Beach, making it an easy stop to start the day. Take in the scenery that captures Akune's essence, surrounded by the sea, right here first.
Tips
There's parking at the park by the foot of the bridge. The bridge has a sidewalk, but traffic is heavy, so hold your children's hands firmly. The look of the current changes depending on whether it's high or low tide.
Best time to visit
About 45 minutes. Early morning tends to be less crowded, giving you time to take in the view at a relaxed pace.
