Located in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture (兵庫県豊岡市), Takenohama Beach (竹野浜海水浴場) is open in 2026 from Wednesday, July 1 to Sunday, August 23, from 8:00 to 17:00. It is a gently shelving beach on the Sea of Japan (日本海) known for its high transparency, where the contrast between white sand and blue sea is beautiful and the grand scenery befitting a corner of the San'in Kaigan Geopark (山陰海岸ジオパーク) is another attraction. Six beach teahouses line the shore, available for meals, breaks and showers. Life jacket rentals (500 yen) are provided for families with small children, giving reassurance for playing in the waves. There is paid parking too, making it an easy beach to reach by car.

Tips

Swimming is allowed until 17:00. Allowing time to change and wrapping up around 16:45 is recommended. Using the beach teahouses and the parking lot costs money, so have cash and small change ready. Life jacket rentals are limited in number, so using them early on busy days is recommended.

From the 1 p.m. hour the sunlight settles a little, making it the time slot to enjoy plenty of sea bathing until evening
