About this spot

A park on a hill right beside Tokachigawa Onsen (十勝川温泉), famous for a large flower clock drawn in blossoms across the whole slope. The geometric arrangement of colourful flowers is highly photogenic, and the changing seasonal plantings are part of the fun. From the top of the hill you can survey the Tokachi Plain (十勝平野) and the course of the Tokachi River (十勝川), giving a real sense of the scale of the Hokkaido landscape. Walking distances are short and the slopes gentle, so families with small children can get around without strain. It is also a good spot to look toward the Ecology Park where you will play later and go over the day's plan with the children.

Tips

There is little shade on top of the hill, so bring a hat and drinks. The best season for the flower clock varies, so checking the bloom status in advance ensures the visit meets expectations. The flower clock is just a short walk from the car park. On windy days it can feel chilly, so one extra layer to throw on is reassuring.
