As evening falls, a calm, dinner-time atmosphere settles over the hot spring town. On the day of the festival, local street stalls sometimes appear, making this a valuable time to pick up food typical of a hot spring town. Before heading to the banks of the Mukagawa River (無加川), the fireworks venue, be sure to fill up here. The lively mix of overnight guests and local residents adds to the festival-only atmosphere.
Tips
Just a short walk from the wood-carved bear street. Shops near the venue get crowded right before the fireworks, so shopping at this time is recommended. It's within walking distance to the banks of the Mukagawa River (無加川).
Best time to visit
About 1.5 hours needed. The time before sunset, as it starts to cool down, is comfortable to spend here.
