About this spot

The main venue for tonight's fireworks display, on the wide riverbed of the Iruma River as it flows through Sayama City. Just a short walk from the Tanabata-dori shopping street, the open embankment draws many people ahead of the fireworks show. One of the highlights of this course is spreading out food-stall fare or takeout meals and cooling off in the evening air while you wait for the show to start. Watch the sky shift color as the sun goes down and build anticipation for the night's fireworks.

Tips

About a 10-minute walk from the Tanabata-dori shopping street. From the evening of the fireworks display onward, both the riverbed and the surrounding roads become very crowded. Get your food and drinks early. Restroom lines at the temporary facilities on the riverbed can get long, so it's best to go early.
