About this spot

A site discovered as the remains of a mid-Jomon-period settlement, where several pit dwellings have been reconstructed within the grounds. Walking through the plaza surrounded by Nyukawa's rich nature, you can picture the lives of the people who lived here thousands of years ago. It offers a valuable outdoor learning experience where children can get a hands-on sense of ancient life.

Tips

About 10 minutes by car from Senkoji Temple (千光寺). As this is an outdoor facility, bring a hat and something to drink in summer. The grassy plaza is also a good spot to spread out a picnic lunch.

Best time to visit

About 45 minutes needed. The afternoon, once the sunlight softens, is a comfortable time to walk around
