About this spot

A town that developed around Goyu-juku (御油宿), a post town on the old Tokaido. From the town's western edge toward Akasaka-juku (赤坂宿), about 600 meters of pine avenue continues, with roughly 300 black pines remaining that were planted in 1604 on the order of Tokugawa Ieyasu (徳川家康) as sun and wind shelter along the road, now designated a national natural monument. The banks of the Otowa River, the fireworks venue for the Goyu Summer Festival, bustle with families as evening arrives. Spread out your dinner, fill up, and hold your spot as you wait for the show to begin.

Tips

You can walk or drive from Higashi-Mikawa Furusato Park. On the day of the fireworks display, the surrounding roads get crowded, so an early move is recommended.

About 1 hour 45 minutes. It gets especially crowded around sunset, so act early
