A museum preserving memories of the August 1st, 1945 air raid on Nagaoka for future generations. Through photographs and documents from that time, visitors can learn about the damage the city of Nagaoka suffered and the history of its reconstruction. Interestingly, the 'White Chrysanthemum' fireworks you will visit later began as a memorial to those who perished in this air raid. By stopping by before watching the fireworks, you can feel their deeper meaning. It becomes a quiet learning experience to contemplate peace together with your children.

2026年8月1日(土)、長岡まつり大花火大会の前夜に打ち上がる「白菊」です。1945年8月1日の長岡空襲で犠牲になった方々への慰霊と、平和への祈りを込めて、正三尺玉ではなく、たった3発だけが静かに打ち上げられます。派手さはありませんが、その分ひとつひとつの花火に込められた意味を感じられる、特別な時間です。翌日から始まる本祭りとは違う、鎮魂のための花火として長岡の人々に大切にされてきました。

荒天時は中止となる場合があるため、当日の開催可否は主催の発表で確認を。夜遅い時間のため、小さなお子さま連れは防寒と体調管理に気を配りましょう。終了後は多くの人が一斉に移動するため、慌てず時間差での帰宅がおすすめです。
