About this spot

This waterfront faces Lake Biwa, located north along the lakeshore from Imazu Port. Behind it stretches a row of Japanese black pines, part of the 100 Famous White Sand and Green Pine Beaches (白砂青松100選). In summer, it bustles with people enjoying the water and strolling the lakeshore, and the open view lets you see the mountain ranges across the lake. Walking along the lakeshore where tonight's fireworks will launch during the day will deepen your enjoyment of the evening viewing. The breeze off the lake feels pleasant and helps ease the summer heat here.

Tips

Within walking distance of the Lake Biwa Rowing Song Museum. Some parts of the shore can be slippery underfoot, so hold hands with small children as you walk. There is little shade, so bringing something for sun protection is reassuring.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 45 minutes. The afternoon, when the sunlight softens, is a pleasant time for a walk along the lakeshore.
