Admire Natural Rock Formations Carved by Waves
About this spot
A remarkable rock formation with a circular hole carved by the rough waves of Wakasa Bay over many years. It was named "Meikyo-do" (mirror cave) because the seascape visible through the hole appears as beautifully mirror-like. It's a unique scenic spot in Takahama Town where you can see up close the natural sculptural beauty created by Wakasa Bay's complex coastline. After enjoying the beach, you can enjoy a unique nature observation experience.

2026年8月1日(土)20時から、若狭和田ビーチから城山海水浴場にかけての東部海岸一帯で開催される若狭高浜花火大会です。約4,000発の花火が若狭湾の美しい海岸線の夜空に次々と打ち上がり、海に反射する光とあわせてダイナミックな光景を楽しめます。海水浴や絶景めぐりでたっぷり過ごした1日の締めくくりとして、家族で夜空を見上げる特別な20分間になるはずです。
Tips
荒天時は中止となる場合があるため、当日の実施状況は高浜町の公式発表で確認しましょう。海岸沿いは広範囲にわたるので、見やすい場所を早めに確保するのがおすすめです。終了後は周辺道路が大変混み合うため、時間差での帰宅が安心です。
Tips
About 10 minutes by car from Wakasa Wada Beach. Since viewing mainly takes place from observation spots, wear comfortable walking shoes. Late afternoon when the sunlight is softer is also recommended for photography.
Best time to visit
Approximately 40 minutes. The slightly angled afternoon light beautifully highlights the shadows and contours of the rocks.
