The 39th Oi River Great Fireworks Festival held on August 1, 2026. On the vast riverbed of the Oi River as the stage, approximately 10,000 fireworks color the night sky over 2 hours. The spectacle of fireworks launching one after another and spreading across the wide night sky is truly powerful thanks to the open riverbed. Viewing fireworks on the banks of the Oi River, which has the history of being 'Koshi ni kosarenui Oi River,' remains a long-cherished summer tradition of Shimada.

Tips

May be cancelled or postponed in case of bad weather, so check the organizer's announcement on the day. After the event, surrounding roads will be very congested, so staggered departure is recommended. Bring a flashlight as it will be dark underfoot.

Best time to visit

Timed for 7 PM to 9 PM event. Secure a spot with good visibility before the start.
