This is the 39th Oigawa Grand Fireworks Festival, held on Saturday, August 1, 2026. Set on the wide Oigawa riverbed, about 10,000 fireworks color the night sky over two hours. The sight of fireworks rising one after another and spreading across the wide night sky is spectacular in a way only possible on an open riverbed. Fireworks watched from the banks of this river, with its history as “the Oigawa you cannot cross,” have long been cherished as a symbol of summer in Shimada.
