About this spot

A shrine representative of Hayato-cho, Kirishima City, long and devoutly worshipped as the ichinomiya of former Satsuma Province. Even today's beautiful vermilion-lacquered halls, rebuilt in the mid-Edo period, welcome visitors with a dignified presence. The spacious grounds offer plenty to see, including a large camphor tree, letting families take their time paying respects while connecting with Kirishima's history and faith. Pray for safe travels here as you start your day.

Tips

About 10 minutes by car from JR Hayato Station. Visiting the grounds is free. There's plenty of shade in summer, so you can cool off as you explore.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. Mornings into early afternoon are relatively quiet for a visit.
