A Japanese restaurant on the first floor of the Yunokawa Onsen hotel Hakodate Yunokawa Onsen Umi to Akari (函館湯の川温泉 海と灯). The menu features sushi, tempura, seafood rice bowls, and kaiseki courses centered on locally sourced ingredients. With counter seating, tables, and a private room for six, it offers a relaxed 32 seats, and beyond the large glass windows a Japanese garden unfolds. On the day of the fireworks display it gets more crowded as night falls, so finish an early dinner during this time and recharge while enjoying the dusk atmosphere of the onsen district.

Tips

On the day of the fireworks display, some restaurants may not accept walk-ins without a reservation, so it's recommended to allow plenty of time. Choosing a place that offers takeout is also convenient for viewing near the river mouth.
