About this spot

This is the central area of Akechi-cho, conveying the atmosphere of the Taisho era to this day. Western-style buildings and museums from that period, including the Taisho Roman-kan (大正ロマン館), are scattered throughout, and simply strolling the retro streets gives you the feeling of stepping back in time. Kimono and hakama rentals are also available, so enjoying commemorative family photos is recommended. Exhibits introducing Taisho-era life and culture are interesting to visit for children and adults alike.

Tips

About a 10-minute walk from Akechi Station (明智駅) on the Akechi Railway. Since the highlights are spread out, using a common admission ticket lets you visit them efficiently. Sunlight is strong in summer, so make good use of the indoor facilities where you can take a break.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 30 minutes. It's recommended to walk the streets during the bright hours of the day
