Held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, this fireworks display is the climax of the Hanzaki Festival that colors Yubara Onsen's summer. In this area also known as the habitat of the hanzaki (Japanese giant salamander), a Special Natural Monument, fireworks are launched over the surface of the Asahi River. The sound echoes through the mountain valley, and together with the glow of the inns and the drifting hot-spring steam, it creates a fantastical atmosphere unique to a hot-spring resort. It's a special night when families can feel firsthand the excitement of a summer festival long loved by local residents.
