About this spot

A ranch on the slopes of Mt. Hachijo-Fuji (八丈富士), where you can watch grazing cattle peacefully munching grass up close. The view from the ranch is said to be among the best on Hachijojima (八丈島), a spectacular spot overlooking the blue sea and the island's settlements below. Watch the cattle over the fence and take it easy while feeling the tropical breeze. For children too, this should be a special time enjoying both cattle and ocean at once.

Tips

About 10 minutes by car from Hachijo Botanical Park (八丈植物公園). The road to the ranch includes slopes, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. There's little to block the sun, so bring a hat and something to drink. Travel to the next stop, Urami Falls (裏見ヶ滝), by car.

About 1 hour 30 minutes. The blue of the sea stands out in the afternoon light
