About this spot

A waterfall at the end of a promenade lush with subtropical plants, and, true to its name, a rare spot where you can walk around behind the falls to view it. The curtain of water seen from behind is refreshingly cool, letting you forget the height of summer's heat. There's also a hot spring facility along the promenade, making it a place to enjoy both a stroll and nature observation. Walking while bathing in negative ions makes for just the right short break on the way to the fireworks.

Tips

About 15 minutes by car from Fureai Ranch (ふれあい牧場). The ground behind the falls gets wet and slippery, so walk with care. Shoes you don't mind getting wet are recommended. Next, move to the area around Sokodo Beach (底土海水浴場) for dinner.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. Stopping by during the hot part of the day makes the coolness stand out
