About this spot

The riverbed along the Tanabu River (田名部川), which flows through the Mutsu City area, is a pleasant spot to enjoy the cool evening river breeze. On the day of the fireworks festival, many families come to cool off in the evening, and the area gets lively with people having dinner at food stalls and nearby restaurants before heading to Ohira Quay (大平岸壁), the festival venue. Spend some relaxed time by the riverside until the sun sets.

Tips

About a 15-minute drive from Ominato Rinkai Park (おおみなと臨海公園). The surrounding roads get crowded from the evening onward on the day of the fireworks festival. It's a good idea to pick up food and drinks early.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 45 minutes. Around sunset is the most pleasant time by the riverside
