This is a scenic viewpoint offering a sweeping view of the vast tea fields spreading across the Makinohara Plateau. The sight of green rows stretching in layers, unique to Makinohara as one of Japan's leading tea-producing regions, is breathtaking. On clear days, you can see all the way out to Sagara's sea in the distance, and the park also has a steam locomotive on display, making it enjoyable for children too. It's a starting point where you can feel the richness of Makinohara's nature before the fireworks festival.

Tips

About a 10-minute drive from Sagara Port (相良港). There's little shelter from the sun around the observation deck, so don't forget a hat and sunscreen. Parking is also available.
