This museum preserves the history of firearms arriving on Tanegashima in 1543. Displays include actual muskets, replicas, and historical documents from that era, helping visitors understand why Tanegashima continues to hold the "Firearms Festival" today. The facility is located on a hilltop overlooking the port, and you can enjoy views of the Nishinoomote townscape from inside the museum. By visiting before the fireworks festival, you can learn the festival's origins before enjoying the evening spectacle.

荒天時は中止や延期の可能性があるため、当日は西之表市の公式発表を確認しましょう。終了直後は港周辺が大変混雑するため、少し余韻を楽しんでからの移動がおすすめです。離島での宿泊やフェリー・飛行機の時刻は事前に確認を。

About 10 minutes by car from Nishinoomote Harbor. During summer vacation season, the facility can get crowded with tourists, so visiting in the early afternoon is recommended. Since the museum rotates its exhibits, it's helpful to check the official website for opening information beforehand.

About 1 hour required. The museum is air-conditioned, making it a good place to take a break from the summer heat.
