This ancient temple located at the southern end of Amanohashidate is counted as one of Japan's Three Monjus and has Monjusari (the Bodhisattva of Wisdom) as its principal deity. For centuries, people have worshipped here seeking academic achievement and wisdom. Locals are particularly familiar with the practice of passing through the "Ring of Wisdom" lamp. The temple grounds also feature an Important Cultural Property - a five-story pagoda - allowing visitors to experience the historical atmosphere up close. Its convenient location near Amanohashidate makes it an easy stop.
Tips
Just a 5-minute walk from Amanohashidate Station, making access very convenient. Admission is free and the compact grounds can be fully explored in a short time.
