A national-designated important preservation district for groups of traditional buildings that preserves the townscape of Arita ware from the Edo period to the present. The back alleys lined with "Tonbai-zuka" walls - made by cementing refractory bricks and pottery shards from kiln waste - are known as a unique landscape unique to Arita. Historic kilns and merchant houses line the street, and just by walking down the street, you can feel the long history of the pottery town. Browsing for your favorite ceramics while exploring is also one of the pleasures.

有田町の龍泉寺で営まれる「十八夜」は、地域で長く受け継がれてきた夏の伝統行事です。2026年は8月18日(火)19時から21時までの開催で、日中の喧騒が落ち着いた夜、山あいの寺にひっそりと灯りがともります。昼間に訪れた陶山神社やトンバイ塀の町並みが焼き物の町の「にぎわい」を伝える場所だとすれば、龍泉寺の夜は有田のもうひとつの顔である「静けさ」を感じられる時間です。都市の花火大会のような派手さはありませんが、地域の人々の祈りと伝統が息づく夜のひとときを、家族でゆっくり味わってください。

Tips

山あいのお寺のため、夜間は足元が暗くなります。懐中電灯やスマートフォンの照明を用意しておくと安心です。駐車場は台数に限りがあるため、早めの到着がおすすめです。静かな行事のため、境内では静かに過ごしましょう。

Walking distance from Toyama Shrine. Since the alleys are narrow, please be considerate when photographing. If you choose a time when the sun is not strong in summer, you can walk comfortably.
