About this spot
This is a dance festival representing Wakayama's summer, unfolding around Wakayama Castle and its surrounding area. In 2026, the main event runs from 17:30 to 21:20 on August 1, with a preliminary festival held from 18:15 to 20:30 on July 31. To the lively chant of 《bundara, bundara》, troupes in matching costumes pass by one after another right before your eyes, and the whole castle town becomes wrapped in the festival's energy. It's an open, welcoming festival unique to Wakayama, where locals and tourists alike can enjoy it together. Being able to watch the dancing against the backdrop of the castle's stone walls is also a charm unique to this venue.
